Artist's story
Carrie
was born in Honolulu in the early 70's. Her father is Gary Budlong,
founder of Anna Bannanas and Go Bananas Kayaks. Carrie's mom
is Mary Ann Dow, famous for her stained glass work in Honolulu
in the late 70's.
In
1978, Carrie's mom along with her older sister moved to Bainbridge
Island, WA. Her younger brother showed up shortly after. Gary
Budlong remained in Honolulu.
Carrie's
upbringing was anything if not unconventional. She got to spend
her winters in the snow and summers in the Hawaiian ocean.

She
loved animals and purchased her first horse at twelve with $200.00
she saved up babysitting. The horse was just the first of a
long line of Carrie's animals. There was a black lab, named
babe dog, doves, cats, mice, rats and now her amazing dog, Sunny,
a short haired collie.

Life
spent in beautiful parts of the world and out in nature gave
Carrie inspiration and her own artistic voice.

Her
art was always supported and encouraged. After High School she
went onto the Northwest College of Arts and earned a fine art
degree.
As
an adult she has become an accomplished artist.
You
can see one of her murals on the side of Go Bananas on Kapahulu
avenue. Another mural can be found on the side of a small building
in Kingston, WA as you are driving off the Ferry from Edmonds.
Family
and friends have been collecting her art for years and we are
glad to see that this could be Carrie's year to be discovered.
